Owlle – An Introduction
We are very excited to welcome Parisian artist Owlle to the Aztec family.
Owlle, real name France, appeared in the electronic-pop scene in 2012 with her début single ‘Ticky Ticky’ (Sony France/Jive/Epic) and after hearing the complete album we had to sign it for the UK.
Owlle’s songs feel both futuristic and ancient — as does everything she creates. Even her chosen name evokes the secretive powers of the sagely, nocturnal woodland creature. Owlle likes to call her music “dream pop,” not so much referring to the classic genre of the same name, but a general otherworldliness she admires. As a result, her sound is something both melancholic and very danceable.
The songs are weightier than most frothy floor-fillers, but sparkle with a dark whimsy and it’s in the more reflective, pensive songs where Owlle’s unmistakable songwriting talent lies; much like her ruby-red mane and celestial wardrobe, the singer’s creative choices always reflect a penchant for bewitching fairy tales.
